(1946-2005) San Francisco’s legendary Automatic Human Jukebox, Grimes Poznikov, was a popular attraction at Fisherman’s Wharf (voted Favorite Street Performer in the Bay Guardian’s Best of SF reader’s poll).
Trumpeting an engaging combination of music, humor, and political commentary/theatre was his tour de farce—designed to perform mass psychotherapy while identifying, challenging and relieving stereotypical behavior as outlined in his AHJ Pilot Project (.pdf) via SANC (Society for the Advancement of Nonverbal Communication).
Grimes played Taps at the vigil/memorial services extemporaneously held on the steps of SF City Hall after the assassinations of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk, November 27, 1978.
